Footprints in the Sand…

May 10, 2012
Posted in Positive Affirmation | No Comments

One night I had a dream–
I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord
and across the sky flashed scenes from my life.

For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints,
one belonged to me and the other to the Lord.

When the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.

I noticed that many times along the path of my life,
there was only one set of footprints…

Developing an “Attitude of Gratitude”

March 6, 2012
Posted in Positive Affirmation | No Comments

I know that some of you may be wondering why a weight loss/self-hypnosis expert is writing an article about developing an “Attitude of Gratitude.”

I mean, certainly we’re all grateful for the food we eat and other material items we may have, so what does gratitude have to do with what I teach my clients?

Everything…

You see, I’ve known for some years now that in order for me personally to live a peace and joy-filled life, I need to acknowledge a power greater than myself and give thanks daily for all my blessings. As most of you know, I, too, was once a 40 pound, overweight, miserable, unhappy lady who suffered from low self-esteem and had zero confidence. When I stumbled upon Self-Hypnosis and saw the difference it made in my life, including my shedding those unwanted pounds, keeping it off for 20 years AND regaining my sense of self-worth, I knew I had to ‘Pay it Forward’ and share this amazing technique with others so that they could also learn to live a fulfilling and contented life.

The Power of Ten Dollars

February 21, 2012
Posted in Linda's Hot Healthy Lifestyle Tips, Positive Affirmation | No Comments

These days $10.00 doesn’t buy you much at any store. Perhaps a loaf of bread, a dozen eggs, and a quart of milk, but that’s pretty much it. So, what does the value of $10.00 have to do with anything, you ask?

As it turns out, plenty!

Awhile back a gentleman bought my Child’s Health/Confidence CD®, one in my series of Positive Affirmation CDs I’ve made over the years. Rather than have me retell his story, I asked him if he’d kindly put down in words what happened once his young son started listening to the CD on a regular basis.

With love and thanks, here’s the story of Dino as told by his Dad, Albert…

So… it’s February, and by now a lot of people’s resolutions have fallen by the wayside.

For those of you who’s number one goal was to lose weight, I can almost guarantee that by now you’ve had one or two ‘slips’ where you’ve either gone overboard and had a slight ‘binge’ of junk food or sweet treats, or have indulged in take-out or your favorite comfort food once too often in the past month.

Hey, it happens to everyone, so stop beating yourself up!

According to Wikipedia, one definition of willpower is “self-discipline, training and control of oneself and one’s conduct, usually for personal improvement.” You can possess all the willpower in the world and still have an occasional lapse in healthy eating habits. That’s why I love, love, LOVE how Accelerated Change Template (ACT) works. When you combine ACT with Self-Hypnosis, you get a powerful 2-step punch that helps you break your bad habits and limiting beliefs in MINUTES so you can achieve groundbreaking success in all areas of your life. And who couldn’t use a little help now and then to keep our willpower strong?

That Failed Resolution to Lose Weight!

We’ve passed the mid-month point of January and some of you have already given up on your great resolution to lose weight. Sure, you might have lost a pound or two, but let’s be honest here. How many of you are still on track? Show of hands. I thought so.

No one starts off to change a bad habit with failure being the expected end result. However, our thoughts have become so conditioned over time that our sub-conscious mind will always win if there’s a battle between what we want to do versus what we’ve always done in the past.

Some of the biggest weight loss saboteur sayings come from the people we love the most. Although they mean well with their comments, the negative words they speak can trigger off the wrong response in our brain.

Here are a few examples…

Resolutions Do NOT Equal Results

January 10, 2012
Posted in Healthy Eating, Linda's Hot Healthy Lifestyle Tips, Positive Affirmation | No Comments

Ah… 2012 has arrived and you’re certain that you’re going to succeed at dropping that extra 15 pounds you managed to somehow mysteriously gain last year, and you’re determined to run at least 10 miles a day on your treadmill. So, you immediately eliminate every crumb of sugar from your daily food intake, buy a brand new pair of track shoes and hit the ground running… literally.

But wait a second. It’s now mid-January and you find yourself with a 15 oz. chocolate bar in your hand half eaten, and your wonderful running shoes still smell like they came off the shelf at your local fitness store. What happened to those steadfast resolutions you made on January 1st? Where did all that power of resolve disappear to?

Oh, Sugar, Sugar, Where Do You End Up?

A brand new year is approaching and some of us will make that familiar New Year’s resolution, namely to lose weight. Since being a Break Your Bad Habits/Beliefs NOW! and certified hypnotist showing all my many clients how to safely (and easily lose weight) is my expertise, I’d like to share with you one of my best ‘Reality Checks’ – namely looking at how sugar affects other areas of your body and not just your waist line.

I’d like to help you understand WHY you should consider reducing your daily intake of sugar in the first place.

A good place to start is to have you answer this question: Do you have any idea how much sugar you and your family consume, on average, daily or in a week?

Is Stress Causing Your Waistline to Expand?

November 7, 2011
Posted in Healthy Eating, Linda's Hot Healthy Lifestyle Tips, Positive Affirmation, Self-Hypnosis, Women | No Comments

Overall, the biggest problem people trying to lose weight have is stress which in turn causes an “emotional eating” problem.

Have you ever wondered if your current ‘waist management’ problems have anything to do with how you are handling the current stress in your life? Could your current stress level have something to do with reaching out for food for comfort which is called emotional eating?

Let me paint you a picture. When I first work with my private clients, I describe them as all wrapped up and twisted like a tight thick rubber band. They have all of this stress and tension inside their body and they don’t know what to do with it, and they so desperately want to feel better. Don’t you? Well, some people have learned to turn to food for comfort to make themselves feel better, some reach out for alcohol, some reach out for cigarettes, and some reach out for drugs…

Why Mentoring Works

October 24, 2011

Do you know the fastest way to achieve any goal? Find someone who has already attained the same goal you want and then make an investment in yourself and be mentored by them. Why? Your mentor can help you to quit playing small and start thinking big. Mentors can help you change your mindset and change your life by rearranging what you believe is possible for you. Being mentored is a great return on your investment because this process can shorten your learning curve by light years as your mentor can teach you not to make the same mistakes they did. It worked for me and I know it can work for you.

Allow me to share my story.

Twenty years ago I left my corporate job of 17 years in the field of human resources and became an “accidental” entrepreneur. I opened a wellness practice because what I had been doing was not feeding my soul. It all started one morning at 3 a.m. when I thought I was dying of a heart attack only to discover that there was nothing wrong with my heart at all. My doctor suspected stress was causing my symptoms, and you know what he told me? Go learn to relax. He also told me that 80% to 90% of the reasons people visit doctors today was for health problems that were stress-induced or psychosomatic (what we are telling ourselves.) Since traditional medicine could not help me, I turned to alternative medicine, namely self-hypnosis…

In my August 23 ezine, I did a Q & A With Linda article. Many of you emailed me and told me how much you enjoyed this format, so today I’d like to write an article along a similar format, only this one is going to be called “Linda’s Myth Buster.”

Remember in school when our teachers would sometimes give us a pop quiz and all we’d have to do is answer “true” or “false”? Well, in this week’s article, I’m going to make 5 statements and I’d like you to guess whether they’re true or false. I’m going to give you the answers below the questions, so no jumping ahead to see whether you’re right or wrong.

Help! I Can’t Find My Waist Line!

Over the years I’ve heard the above statement time and time again from my clients. I routinely get questions from readers who have been struggling trying to shed unwanted (and unhealthy) weight, and aren’t seeing the results they desperately need. So in today’s ezine, I thought I would answer some of the most frequently asked ones in the hopes that my answers will help those of you who are determined to get fit and healthy.

Linda’s Top 5 Weight Loss Questions

Q: I love chocolate! I’ll buy a chocolate bar and tell myself, “I shouldn’t eat chocolate” or “I’ll only eat one piece” then the next thing I know, I’ve eaten the whole thing and often sneak out to the store to get another one. Help!

A: Sometimes when you tell yourself you can’t have something, it makes you want it more, e.g. like telling you NOT to think about a “Pink Elephant.” Of course, immediately you see a picture of that elephant in your mind. I don’t believe in dieting or restricting yourself from any food. However, in order to be slim and healthy, I teach my client’s to become smart Nutrition Detectives, and learn to end their love affair with sugar/carbs. Tell yourself that it is okay to eat just “1” serving of your favourite chocolate candy bar. Look at the nutrition label to find out this information. Wouldn’t you rather learn to eat just a small serving that to be told, “I can never have chocolate again?”

What ARE Limiting Beliefs?

September 9, 2011
Posted in Healthy Eating, Linda's Hot Healthy Lifestyle Tips, Positive Affirmation, Self-Hypnosis | No Comments

Ask yourself this question, “Are you getting where you want to go quickly, or are you struggling because something subconsciously seems to be holding you back?” If you answered yes to this question, that force that is keeping you stuck in your rut could very well be what’s called a ‘limiting belief.’

Let me give you an example. What if your goal was to be an airplane pilot? Let’s pretend you are driving along in your car with your foot slammed all the way down on the accelerator saying to yourself, “Yeah! I am going to be an airplane pilot” but all of a sudden your subconscious limiting beliefs come flooding in causing you to doubt your decision. Thoughts like, “I might crash the plane and kill myself” or “Who am I kidding? I always fail at everything I try. I am such a screw up. There’s no way I can be a pilot!” These limiting beliefs cause you to slam your foot on the brake at the same time as your other foot has jammed the accelerator pedal to the floor, causing you to spin your wheels and you’re stuck going nowhere fast. So, how do you get unstuck?

Q & A With Linda Allred about weight loss and stress

Q: Linda, you often talk about harnessing the power of your subconscious mind by using Self-Hypnosis to achieve any goals. Why is this important?

Linda: First of all, let me explain that all of your good/bad habits and beliefs are stored in your subconscious mind. Why is this important? Most people are goal setting with their conscious mind and therefore fail at their attempts to change their behavior patterns. By learning to practice Self-Hypnosis (and ALL hypnosis is self-hypnosis by the way), you will increase your chances of success by at least 99%.

Each day we use electricity.Although most of us do not know exactly what electricity is or how it works, we use it for many necessary things such as light and heat. Self-hypnosis and its benefits are there for the taking. USE IT!

Self-hypnosis is a lifetime tool. Once you have learned it, you own the most powerful resource for change and relaxation that exists. And once it is yours, no one can ever take it from you!

Keep Your Cool Without Tons of Calories This Summer!

July 11, 2011

With summer and hot temperatures abounding in most of the US and Canada, it’s really easy to grab something cold – anything that’s handy – and forget about counting calories trying to chill out.

While an indulgence in a small (note I said ‘small’ here, not the gigantic triple scoop on a sugar-coated waffle cone size you get at the corner ice cream stand) ice cream cone once in awhile is fine, how many calories are you drinking trying to beat the heat?

It’s way too easy to lose track of what we’re consuming through our liquid consumption in the summertime, so I thought that a short article giving you the ‘skinny’ on some of the more calorie-laden cool drinks might just come in handy. Check out the following ‘waistline expansion’ factors on these favorite summertime drinks…
